We must always dedicate ourselves for society. By this we
can give a practical shape to our behavior and personality. If we remain
aloof from society we will be like a frog living in well and this will create
a hindrance in our progress. The more we work for society and the more we
remain connected with it, the more famous we will become. This fame will
enhance our enthusiasm. Always remember that society is ours. We need it.
Live not only for you but for the society.
Today life is a busy life. Everyone is involved in solving
his own problems. We do not bother for others. We spare sometime for our
relatives, friends and family according to our convenience but have not
time for social work. To cheer up your personality in society you must work
for the upliftment of society with honesty and responsibility.
If we want to be recognized in society and want to reach the
pinnacle of success, we should not keep our self aloof from society. Our
deep feeling and responsibility towards society makes us good and responsible
citizen of the society we live in, Former President of America Joha F Kennedy
used to say – “My country, do not ask what your society and your country
can do for you; ask what you can do for your country?”
Intelligent and responsible persons look at their contribution
towards society. He looks towards his aim. When you are in a tranquil mood
ask what you are doing for your family, Institution and society. If you
spend all your time in fulfilling your daily needs, then there is no difference
between you and an animal because animals also live just for their own self
and keep themselves busy in their own affairs.
Some people do not come forward to work for society because
they bother about public opinion, they think what people would say and so
they shirk from it. But the only need is to take the first step and rest
follows. The deputy commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation was alone
when he stood against Maharashtra Government. Nobody came to his help in
the beginning. But later on he was welcomed like to hero and got full support
of the people.
George Bernard Shaw said," Man learn skating by falling many
times and become the target of laughter for others. We should learn a lesson
from failures of our life and put our conscious efforts to achieve our goals.”
Samuel Smiles was a great writer and thinker. For the last hundred years
he guided people through many of his books. In one of his books he has written
– it is possible that good people also did not make efforts in the direction
of failure and nor did they approve of their failure. On the contrary, they
had made efforts to get success and if they did not succeed they accepted
it as their misfortune.
Whenever you start a work do not waste time to imagine about
the obstacles which will come in your way. If you keep thinking about the
difficulties time and again the fear of it will be so powerful that you
will have to forget ding that particular work.
Swami Vivekananda said that the situation of uncertainty is
worse than death. Whatever you want to do, do it with full awareness. Delay
in decisions will bring failures for you.
There are certain works in society that are just waiting for
you, Whatever you can do to eradicate crime, Disease, poverty and illiteracy
must do it. Take a pledge to grow at least ten plants per year. Enroll yourself
as a member of those institutions that want to do something for the betterment
of society .Inspire the people for their mental development and creativity
and take part in the functions organized for these purposes
Keep in mind
You cannot help anyone, unless you have faith and favour in
your own heart, If you have any doubts about anything, your words will not
carry conviction because you have not convinced yourself. If you talk of
the power of love, you convince through loving. But if you have any hatred
in your heart, or are a slave to anger and jealously, what you say will
have little effect. We impart moral principles though our action and by
the way we serve. Remember
The Grand Master Osho says –
A businessman is one thing and to e in business is quite another.
You can be in business and religious. And they are poles apart. They are
not synonyms. I am not saying that you have to renounce all your business
to become religious; I am never in favour of any renunciation in the world.
But when I say a businesses to become religious, I am never in favour of
any revocation in the world. But when I say a businessman cannot be religious
I mean something totally different, I mean the psychology – not the work
that you do in the marketplace but the psychology, the mind.
The mind of a business is always bargaining, always greedy,
always thinking of the profit, always in the future. Always interested in
petty things, mundane and objects. When I say, don’t be a business man,
I mean drop this psychology and you can drop the marketplace and go the
Himalayan caves—that won’t help because I have seen great mahatmas who live
renounced business, but they are still they don’t think in terms of the
coins of this world, but they think in terms of the coins of the other world.
May be they don’t think in terms of having a bigger house here, but they
think in terms of palaces in the other world. May be they are no more interested
in things of this world, but what difference does it make? They are still
interested in things; their motivation is still that of greed.
Don’t be greedy. Be generous. Don’t be accumulative –be sharing!
That is real renunciation. And then you live wherever you are, and you do
whatsoever you are doing. And don’t live for the future, live in the moment,
for the moment. Then you are not a businessman. You may be in business.
Be in business-that is not a problem-but don’t’ be a businessman.
Think of greater things. Think of meditation. All these happens only when
you are relaxed and you have no tension. This is what I mean when I say
don’t be a businessman.
